The 7 C's of A Championship
The Seven C’s of Championship Team Building
Common Goal – Championship teams have singular common goal. All other goals are secondary & revolve around the common goal. They must fit within the framework of the common goal. Everyone understands the direction and destination the team is moving toward.
Commitment – Commitment is the single most important factor that differentiates championship teams from average ones. Maintaining this over the course of an entire season is the most difficult task the team will face. Players work because they want to, not because they have to. Players must develop a sense of responsibility & accountability to their teammates.
Complimentary Roles – Championship teams are made up of players who willingly take pride in playing a wide variety of roles. Collectively these roles form a synergy of the whole being greater than its parts.
Clear Communication – Successful communication on and off the field is critical.
Constructive Conflict – All teams will face several forms of conflict throughout the course of a season. Championship teams can keep that conflict under control and use it to further develop and strengthen the team. The conflict must never take away from the teams common goal.
Cohesion – Championship teams generally like and respect each other. Players spend time with each other away from the field.
Credible Coaching – The coach must be able to recognize, develop and monitor the other C’s.
